Hey there!We're back with another week full of online activities with Torchlight Services' Connect Program! All of the programs below will be done over Zoom, a video chatting application that will allow us to communicate despite our distance! Here is our schedule for the week of June 14 - June 18Monday, June 1410:30am - 11:30am: Mental Health WorkshopJoin us for a unique program that is all about caring for yourself! Participants will be broken up into smaller groups with staff to work through several activities.These activities focus on emotional well-being and finding balance within ourselves. Times have been tough, but this workshop will also help you find all the good in your life as well. Please bring respect for others, listening skills and thoughtful reflection to this program. No materials needed1:00pm - 2:00pm: Tongue TwisterJoin us for some Tongue Twister fun! Everyone will get a chance to test their tongue and say funny Tongue Twisters. Just to get a taste of what this program is all about, try saying "Better Botter bought some butter" or " Rubber baby buggy bumpers", now try saying that twice4:00pm - 5:00pm: Just Dance PartyJoin us for our Just Dance Party where we will be following the dances done in the Just Dance Now video game! Participants can download the "Just Dance Now" app on their phone to use as a controller to the game where points are awarded based on how closely you follow the dancers on screen. Downloading the app is optional but definitely not needed to have fun. Everyone is more than welcome to join to dance and chat with friends or even just to enjoy some music! Comfy clothes and water is recommended as playing this game may lead to breaking a sweat on the dance floor!***Tuesday, June 1510:30am - 11:30am: Matching GameParticipants will get the chance to work their memory on this skill testing game! Participants will virtually pick two cards from a pile in hopes they get a matching pair! If a matching pair is found, a point is awarded to the team who found it and the pair is removed from the pile. The team with the most matching pairs will be our winners!1:00pm - 2:00pm: Among UsAmong Us is a free mobile game you can download on your mobile device through the app store. Players are sorted to be either crewmates or imposters. The crewmates are responsible for completing mini tasks on their ship to get it back running while the imposter tries to sabotage the mission and eliminate the crewmates. The game is won by the crewmates when all mini tasks are completed or when the identity of the imposters are discovered. The imposter will win the game if all crewmates are eliminated before the identity is revealed. No extra materials are needed however some prefer to use one device for the Zoom meeting and a secondary mobile device used to play the game. These cash amounts range from $100 to $500 and will have a clue underneath. The player must give an answer in the form of the question. If correct, the cash is awarded to the team and the next teammate will choose a category and cash value until the player says an answer that is incorrect, the turn will then go to the other team to get a chance to answer. The team with the most cash at the end of the game will be our winners***Wednesday, June 1610:30am - 11:30am: Almost PictionaryIn our version of Pictionary, participants will be divided into small teams that are paired with a Torchlight staff member. In each 2 minute round, staff will be given a list of words/phrases and will use the Zoom whiteboard to draw out the things on the list. Using only pictures drawn by the staff on their team, participants will try to guess as many drawings as possible. Other participants and staff will be quiet while other teams are competing their rounds, it should also be noted that only staff members can draw on the whiteboard. 1:00pm - 2:00pm: KahootKim has prepared some Kahoots to test our knowledge. Kahoot is an online trivia game that allows players to use their phone as a controller for the game! You can download the Kahoot app in the app store of your mobile device, or you can simply go to kahoot.it/ while in the Zoom call, where it will ask you to put in a game pin (this will be given to you during the Zoom meeting) and a nickname! While Kahoot can be played on the same device that is being used for the Zoom meeting, some people prefer to use one device for the Zoom meeting (laptop, tablet) and another secondary mobile device for the Kahoot game (phone, tablet, Ipod)7:00pm - 9:00pm: Movie NightBring some snacks and cozy blankets as we watch a feature film together over Zoom! The movie we watch will be determined by the voters! Later this week, a post will be sent out showcasing the movie options for the week, the movie that gets the most votes by 6:30pm Wednesday will be the one we end up watching!***Thursday, June 1710:30am - 11:30am: Virtual ToursAll aboard! Come join us for some virtual tours! Although we may be stuck at home, with the help of technology we can virtual travel to anywhere an adventure awaits, even from the safety of our own homes! 1:00pm - 2:00pm: Fill In The BlanksTwo teams will be shown a phrase that has a blank spot in the sentence. The first letter of the top ten possible answers to fit that blank spot is shown on the gameboard. Players must use the first letter as a clue to guess what the missing word is to make the sentence complete! 10 points is awarded for every correct answer and an extra 50 points is given to the team if they can solve all ten answers before time is up 4:00pm - 5:00pm: Word GamesJoin us for various word games such as MadLibs, Hangman and the ABC game where players give 2 names, a location and an object that all start with the given letter to complete the sentence: " My name is _____, my partner's name is _____, we live in ____, where we sell ____". For example if my letter was T, my sentence could be "hello my name is Terry, my partner's name is Terrence, we live in Tobermory, where we sell telescopes!"***Friday, June 1810:30am - 11:30am: BingoTo play bingo online, virtual cards will be sent to each participant at the start of the program. If you would like to play on a physical copy of the bingo card, you can email @Jennifer Cowan and she will send you links to printable versions of the bingo cards so you can mark your called numbers with either a pencil, bingo dabber, or even counters!1:00pm - 2:00pm: Family FeudJoin us as two teams will face off to attempt to guess the most popular answers to various survey questions! 4:00pm - 5:00pm: YogaOur friend Bre will be joining us again to lead us in a beginner's yoga class. Bre will be demonstrating one version of the sequence while a seated sequence will be demonstrated on the chair by Jennifer. It is recommended to wear clothing that is easy to move in, as well as some water to stay hydrated. All of the programs below will occur over Zoom, a video chatting platform that will allow us to communicate despite our distance! You can download Zoom on your device here: zoom.us/support/downloadHere is a breakdown of the programs we are offering for the week:Monday, June 710:30am - 11:30am: Among UsAmong us is a free mobile game you can download onto your mobile device. While playing you will either be assigned as a crewmate or an imposter. The crewmates' job is to complete mini tasks to get your spaceship running again, while being careful of the imposters who are secretly eliminating your crew. The imposter will win if all crewmates are eliminated before the crewmates figure out the true identity of the imposter! Be sure to bring a pencil and paper to help keep track of answers and points! 1:00pm - 2:00pm: KahootBarb has prepared some Kahoots for us to test our knowledge. The team with the most collected cash at the end of the game will be our winners for this week of Jeoparty!**Thursday, June 1010:30am - 11:30am: Learn To DrawBring pencil and paper with you as you join in on us watching step - by - step video tutorials on how to draw some of our favourite characters! 1:00pm - 2:00pm: Name That SongThe first few seconds of a song will be played, one point is awarded to those who can guess the name of the song, and another point is awarded to those who can recall the band or artist who made the song. It is recommended to bring a pencil and paper with you to keep track of all the songs you recognized, or even if you hear a song you haven't heard yet and would like to write down the song so you can listen to it later! 7:00pm - 9:00pm: Movie Night Bring some snacks and cozy up as we watch a feature film together over Zoom! The movie we end up watching will be determined by the voter! A post will be sent out later in the week showcasing the movie options for the week, the movie with the most votes by 6:30pm on Thursday will be the one we end up watching!**Friday, June 1110:30am - 11:30am: BingoTo play bingo online, virtual cards will be sent to each participant at the start of the program, however if you would rather prefer a physical copy of the bingo cards so that you can mark the cards with bingo dabbers, coins/counters or even a pencil; email @Jennifer Cowan as she will provide links to printable versions of the cards! 1:30pm - 2:30pm: Virtual ToursAll aboard!
