“I am very proud to be a representative on the board of directors for Torchlight Services. I retired after 36 years in the accounting field, working at various levels from entry to a Controllership role for 4 different organizations. My experience has allowed me to assist with the accounting requirements as I act as the Treasurer of the Board.   I have been impressed by the team made up of board members, staff and volunteers. It is uplifting to see, despite the many challenges faced including: transition to programing, Ministry changes, the ongoing pandemic, etc.; the goals and focus on maintaining a semblance of normalcy for the participants of the programs remains the number one priority.”

Don retired at the end of 2018 after approximately 36 years in the accounting field. During his accounting career, he worked at various levels from entry level clerical to a Controllership role for 4 different organizations. He has been able to assist with the accounting requirements since joining the Board in 2018 and currently acts in the role of Treasurer.

When asked why he decided to join Torchlight Services Board of Directors, Don explained, “I was invited to one of the board meetings and discovered a vibrant and forward-thinking group which was going through a major transition. I saw this as an opportunity to use some of the skills I learned in business to be part of this board and team and saw an opportunity to give back and maybe, in some small way, make the lives of others better.”
